Lobuche Web Cam

LWC (Lobuche Web Cam) – East-facing camera monitoring Lobuche Peak (6,150 m) and its glacier

Installation height and location:
Positioned at 5,050 m a.s.l. on the Pyramid’s second level, this Mobotix advanced camera (deployed under a technical partnership) offers high-resolution imaging.

Field of view:
Targets Lobuche Peak and its glacier, which has undergone dramatic retreat since the Pyramid’s establishment. Previously a continuous ice flow extending to the Lobuche village moraine, the glacier now exhibits a suspended serac field disrupted by bedrock exposure.

Installation year: 2024

Key functionalities:
Tracks local weather conditions near the Pyramid.
Documents glacier and serac evolution (e.g., icefall dynamics, structural instability).
Studies cloud formation up to 6,000 m, providing data on humidity near the permanent snowline.

Please note that during the monsoon season (June to September), visibility may be limited. Also, keep in mind Nepal Standard Time (NST), which is UTC +5:45. - > +3:45 Italian time in summer -> +4:45 Italian time in winter
