During the Arctic Circle Forum hosted at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) in Rome on March 3–4, Minister Musadik Mashhod Malik, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Climate Change, invited and hosted in Italy by EvK2CNR Association, emphasized the crucial role of scientific collaboration and data sharing in addressing the global challenge of climate change.
In an interview with Sky TG journalist Daniele Moretti, Minister Musadik Mashhod Malik highlighted a concrete example of international cooperation: the inventory of 13,032 Pakistani glaciers, developed within the Glaciers and Students project. The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS Islamabad) and implemented by EvK2CNR in partnership with United Nations Development Programme Pakistan.
The glacier inventory represents an important scientific achievement and a valuable tool for monitoring and understanding the impacts of climate change in the high mountain regions of Pakistan. As a symbol of this collaborative effort, Minister Musadik Mashhod Malik personally delivered the inventory to Anna Maria Bernini, Italy’s Minister of University and Research, during his visit to Rome.
